Career in Hospitality Industry

Hospitality Industry is growing at a very fast pace and avenues are growing for employment and career growth.

With the economy growing, industrial activities and International trade at a positive direction we can see that the growth of hospitality industry to be at a higher scale.

The tier 2, 3 towns are also having growth of Hotels and resorts. This industry is a Man power centric Industry and cannot be automated. You need to serve and the process cannot be computerized.

Thus the growth of this industry and sector is visible thereby need for skilled man power is very usual.

The various courses are available and I suggest candidate to be very candid in their research in terms of selecting the course.

This program needs to be practical oriented and the choice of Institution should be based on infrastructure available to train up in the sector.

What would be the point of studying something where you can not practice to get skilled which ultimately you will need to apply.

I don't think it is possible to learn driving without actually getting inside a car.

As this is a highly upwardly mobile industry my suggestion is that you migrate to a place to study where the travel and commercial activity is very high. That is to a commercially active town or city.

No point studying in a place where you cannot practically get the exposure of the real industry. I reject the idea of taking up this program in a small town where the life is moving slow or just picking up.

This industry is a service industry where you are subjected to serving people. Do diagnoses and understand whether you will really like to work in the industry. Do you have the energy and mindset to serve people? Are you people centric. Particularly for ladies before taking up the program be specific with your family whether after the program will they allow you to work in Hotel & Hospitality Industry.

Many of our youths and parents get mislead by Hospitality Industry with Hospital and the Counselors also do not clarify for commercial purpose. No one is denying. But then why do you have to study such programme.

Of course one can get into Hospital as a PRO or administration job after such program.

This is not the point I am trying to highlight. What I intend is that you need to be very sure what actually one have to do in a specific industry before taking any program..

I have seen many say that they did not knew about the program, institution or the Industry and only after 2nd year they could realize that they had done a mistake.

By that point of time it’s too late because you might have to lose time, money and energy.

Our parents are also very confused as they cannot cope with so many programme and institution. Earlier they only had BA B.Com & B.Sc. Now it’s a mad academic world.

So my suggestion is be specific. Do analysis. Ask help from qualified and sincere people. Consult with people with knowledge and good intention.

Have patience and do not do window shopping and experimentation with your career.

Have a great career ahead.
